    I saw you didn’t almost touch the HT Freq. ¿What was the NB Frequency at 5GHZ??
    Thanks (sorry for my bad english)

    @emshains
    This was my first dry ice run ever. To see 5GHz on any chip for me is a feat. Besides, most rev C2 Phenom II X4′s only hit max of 5.2GHz and thats on the good chips.

  4. emshains says:

    Only 5 ghz ? That’s low actually.

  5. Teteran says:

    @Slappa Ahh, I see. You were very lucky! Nevertheless very cool experiment I would love to try it myself sometime.

  6. Slappa says:

    @Teteran

    Yes, you are correct. Around the socket there was water condensing and instantly freezing from the -78C temperatures. This was my first dry ice run, and we did not insulate very well. There was water on almost everything around the socket. Very dangerous. However all of the hardware survived. In my recent videos you can see that we insulated better around the socket to prevent this from happening.

    There is no way that is right. If your proc was running at that voltage it would be dead in an instant. It must be an error in the read

  8. super6plx says:

    man I opened up cpuz for my newly bought phenom II 955 and it says core voltage 3.808….. o_O
    the one on his screen said 1.560 lol, what’s goin on?

  9. Fringe13 says:

    @enverelkeda it does not melt it evaporates

    i love it when 2 guys screw on nuts together

  11. Teteran says:

    Now I know you put down some thermal compound to shield the components from any ambient temperatures that the dry ice might induce. Now my question is: Why doesn’t the moisture in the air condense on any of the components around the CPU? The CPU thermocouple was reading around -68C, if I’m not mistaken, which means the components in the area, regardless of the thermal compound placed, would also see some kind of sub 0C temperature which would cause the moisture in the air to condense.

    don’t you need incredibly high pressure to get helium to a liquid stage though

    @albertsource I hope this isn’t the future. There should be a better material than silicon such as germanium or some kind of mix to run cooler or perhaps an optical CPU instead of electrical.

    well you could get even colder and over clock it more then 5ghz but doing these steps
    1: Use liquid nitrogen for a while then move on to step two for the finsh step.
    2: Use liquid helium and keep it up as it keep on getting very much colder.
