thats pretty bad that this guy knocks off water cooling when yet all the reaches of its technique hasnt even been fully applied yet.. I mean this is for the CompTIA A+ test and he doesnt even talk about the different metals one can use like the conductivity of aluminum witch is what he uses for an example, i believe is like 40-60 au compared to copper witch is like 200 au conductivity. and thats just in the heat sinks. Besides this video isnt that old if home boy is talking about quad core – lou

Can we sign up for a video course offered by Smarlearn? How?

  5. tacothunder says:

    I agree, run Linux :-P

When I add the TIM, I gently rub the CPU and bottom of the heatsink together to get the thin film on evenly. Depending on what you consider a "dab", it might not spread itself out if the latch that holds the heatsink on the CPU is loose. Also, monitor your CPU temp, built in in Linux ;)

  6. CrazyMofoCooling says:

u can retake it as many times as you want to put money into it

  7. JanMetabolic says:

what if you fail a+ three times? can you still retake it?

  8. Xikkub says:

Although he makes quad cores appear extremely powerful, only Linux can use all four cores. Apple is working on how to take advantage of four cores, and Microsoft has no plans on creating programs/os’s to be able to use all four cores. Even though water cooling IS somewhat of a gimmick, quad cores are even MORE of a gimmick.

    very good video

This video is from the Pentium III days! Back when CPUs didn’t generate as much heat. Remember, there even was a time where processors didn’t even need a heatsink.

about the liquid cooling……i havent seen anyone being stupid enough to use water as their cooling liquid…..it has to be non-conductive liquid….duuhh..

about the thermal paste…..you dont want to put it all over the cpu like the guy describes it on the vid…bad juju….you only need about a dab in the center of the cpu and it’ll spread itself evenly when you place the heatsink on top of the cpu….also have a fan that will pull and blow the hot air out of your box(typically the back side fan)…..and run Linux:)

this video is over 10 years old, people. jesus christ of course he’s off about a few things, but overall the information is good.

i laughed when he talked about water cooling though. don’t listen to that part, look up some water cooling systems on newegg so you can actually see how it works.

my laptop is running normally at about 60*C, running at 50% cpu power. If I set cpu power to 100% and plays video or something, it can easily go to 90*C :(

  24. DeanG19 says:

The liquid cooling water goes down through the computer through pipes and when it gets too hot because of the heat it is adsorbing it evaporates back up and cools down again, so its a good cycle
