I am upgrading, would you choose this over an intel i5-760, 2.8GHz. I want to mainly use it for photoshop, Adobe light room, Sony Vegas and general stuff. im not a hardcore gamer, so it is not too important. just want it to be fast and be able to handle anything I throw at it. What would you recommend?

I’m seriously thinking about getting this CPU but I’m not sure that it will work well with my graphic card. Someone at the store told me that my graphic card is not good enough to support this CPU and i wont be able to use the CPU to it’s max. is this true?? my graphic card is an radeon hd 3800, its 512mb, the core runs at 680MHz, it has a bandwidth of 53GB/s and a texture/pixel fill rate of 10.7GB/s.
Plz respond to this as soon as possible, i really need some advice. Thanks!

@M4nimal more and more games are optimised for quad core. Dragon age: origins benefits from a 75% performance increase from "comparible" dual core models. Bad co. 2 also benefitted greatly (100% increase). I was considering a phenom II x2 550 BE, but with more and more games optimised I’d rather go for an OC’ed phenom ii Quad.

Hi PCWizKid, I’m just wondering if you were running the CPU on a stock cooling fan and heatsink or did you apply the CPU with an aftermarket cooler? Thanks.
i just bought a 965 phenom II x4 but was not listed as a black edition. Is there even such a thing as a non-black edition 965?

and the best of wat energy saving? game? programa? casual? bechmarks? So many things you need to answer your self before you buy any cpu if it is a amd or intel. The best cpu can be crap if you don`t know what you need.
@Jaschar60 Phenom II 965 x4 runs at 3.4 Ghz stock. The new 970 came out, but all it does is run at 3.5 Ghz stock. A bit of a waste esepcially when you can overclock the 965 to 3.5 Ghz with no trouble.

@Awayze just dont waste money on those stupid 6 cores LOL my friend went out bought the new intel 6 c0re and was braggin to me i was like bro you bought 6 your using 2-3 tops by time your even able to use the 6 cores for anything theyll be at like 12 cores and youll have ran out and bought that like a moron.
