Palm Pre 800 MHz Overclocking FAST brotha!

Check out this site where it’ll show you a cool trick that actually TRIPLES your PC’s performance!
The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!

there was a recent homebrew patch to overclock the Palm Pres 500MH to a blazing 800MHz speed. I have to say, the difference is night and day in a broad variety of situations. Im a big fan of the webOS, and its just a shame that the Palm Pre and Pixi are underwhelming pieces of equipment. But needless to say, there is a great homebrew community in place that makes things like this possible. Thanks!

@bobbycat711 Firstly, there is no way that you could have found out the iPhone was 1GHz since Apple has not release the specs for the A4 used in the iPhone, yet. Apple usually under-clocks the iPhone to conserve battery life. That is why many believe the iPhone is actually 800MHz (Especially since the iPhone 4 is slower than the iPad’s 1GHz A4, even though the iPhone has twice the RAM found on the iPad.)

Currently, the fastest phones are the ones using nVidia Tegra 2: LG Optimus 2x!

iphone 4 is 1 ghz lol is fastest phone

does it kill the battery life clocking up the speed?

    @surfingsuicune owned.

@imonlyhelpin yeah it gets hotter. i posted this five months. now they have better kernels up to 1ghz, that have screenstates (when your phone is charging, it will knock it down to 500mhz). get familiar with preware, download govnah, and let a rip. you have nothing to lose.

  6. imonlyhelpin says:

Does this make the pre really hot? Like do you ever worry it’ll mess up?

@H20RockBandSH yeah i’ve heard that too, but then again the pre’s stock battery is crap. i dont imagine playing 3d games on the pre all day without stressing about battery life. the pre is using the same battery as the older treo before it. that goes to show they didnt invest in newer more efficient battery technology to match everything else. thats a HUGE letdown when youre talking mobile usage and reliability. hopefully they will think about that more in the next wave of devices.

  9. H20RockBandSH says:

@msechea I heard that the htc hero can’t run like 3-d apps compared to the pre. I like how the pre’s set up but i LOVe sense ui.

  10. msechea says:

@H20RockBandSH it really depends if you value the performance/look of a mobile OS (which the pre excels at) or platform expandability (Android provides much broader support as a whole than the pre). The pre’s hardware falls short of being speedy and snappy. the hero is a better performer, but android isn’t as clean/smooth as webos. it really depends. they have a lot of android phones out there that have monster hardware, let’s wait for the next HP monster… :)

  11. H20RockBandSH says:

How is the palm pre? WOuld you recommend that over the htc hero?

  12. msechea says:

@surfingsuicune ha i thought you would like that. i’m surprised you haven’t taken flight of ‘imitation [of speech] is the HIGHEST form of flattery.’ and talking like a dictionary doesn’t make you as smart as one. good to remember for the real world…

@msechea Well crafted! Another byproduct of our fine public education system. Such pithy insults must flow more freely than your crushingly low self-esteem.

  14. msechea says:

@surfingsuicune the palm pre falls short on the hardware side, but the webos is the real gem. and you suck too by the way.

  15. msechea says:

@c1n1p1 its one of the patches found on the preware app. homebrew software lets you make a ton of customization options that users can upload and let everyone try out. this one was a simple one that allowed you to make the launcher look more like the iphone launcher. they have tons of other stuff.

  16. msechea says:

@djserg630 the easiest way now is to get familiar with preware (homebrew software) you can google it and find some great information about how to get started. then once you do, you can use an app called superkernel, which lets you switch from 500mhz to 800mhz on the fly. really easy to do

  17. c1n1p1 says:

ur launcher how did you get that? I like the look of it

  18. mh3rn4nd3z3 says:

    sweet!

  19. djserg630 says:

    where can i download upgrade?

  20. msechea says:

@ronii1123 i have an extended seido battery that helps a lot to get through the day. i was dissatisfied with the stock battery that came with the pre on a day to day even without the patch, so i would think that the patch wouldn’t help at all. it does get hot, when i am wifi tethering or playing music for an extended period of time. truth be told, the palm pre is an outdated piece of hardware that needs to be improved upon, including the battery life, which sucks no matter which way you cut it.

  21. ronii1123 says:

    hows the battery?

  22. CubanLUVash says:

@surfingsuicune why? and i have an iphone not a palm pre

  23. CubanLUVash says:

why are people dogging on PALM? i have an iphone and that was my second choice. I hate ANDROID. I think with HP the money will come in and so will the phones that are better quality.
