Updated benchies video: www.youtube.com If youre having a go at overclocking your 5850 using the tools i did in this video, a few things: 1) Please be careful! Keep it cool and dont push it too far! 2) Youll need MSI Afterburner version 1.20, earlier and later versions dont work properly in my experience. Any recent version of GPU Clock Tool seems fine 3) again, just go easy

@FameswProductions No you have to overclock a 5850 to clocks higher than a 5870 to get 5870 performance, you have to compensate for the fact a 5850 has less SP’s
So you can get 5850 OC’ed to 5870 performance at 5870′s default settings?
@Newbpwng I don’t know which brands will cover you if you damage by overclocking, usually it’s only the very high end/expensive cards that come with cover for overclocking damage.
I keep reading that XFX has a good warranty though, might be worth googling for users experiences with XFX
do you know if i Overclock to 5870 performance and the card fails is there any of the companies that will still cover it with warranty like XFX?

@jagageralla 775/1100 should be fine, on ATI Overdrive there is a option to test custom clocks, if you let that run for a few mins it’ll tell you if the overclock is stable or not
775/1100 shouldn’t shorten the life of your card
@jagageralla test with atitool, test for artifacts, you need an hour without artifacts and its stable, I tried at stock voltage 1.08 i think and found it to be underpowered. I played css on full and only got 40fps which on a 5850 should be unheard of.
Hellooo,, I recently overclocked my 5850 with the Ati overdrive feature. And i just maxed everything out there and i now have my GPU clock setting @ 775 mhz and memory clock setting @ 1100 mhz.. And is that a stable overclock? please reply! ;D

You only need water for 1100MHz+ overclocks as far as i know
do you use water cooling cause i wanted to overclock mine with only air

The card will overclock fine with any CPU as long as you have a decent power supply
I run my Phenom II at 3.9GHz with the 5850 at 1GHz no problem
