    What are the possible options for stopping of overheating on these ? I just ordered a refurbished one for a mere £299, although Im well aware of the overheating as its such a high spec beautiful Lappy. Some say simply vacuuming it often helps….? Or can I buy a universal fan to add or ? Any help would be appreciated.

    @kingjoel0 yeah in the dell quickset program under gaming lets you control the LED’s, theres 3 or four programs they work with but make sure you have the right audio driver installed or you will get distortion.

    @kingjoel0

    Ya it’s a plug-in for winamp…it’s cool at first but then just starts getting annoying.

  11. kingjoel0 says:

    How do I tell which processor I have. I have this puter with the 2.33 chip but the system properties list a T2700? Could that be right? No OC for me?

  15. onlineaddicted1 says:

    I still own this M1710 it still work perfectly, and another M1330 this model is such rubbish replace motherboard 3 times within 2 years of warranty and just dead again last week.
    -No more Dell for me , i so happy about M1710 but not M1330 to current.
    -Mine M1710 is getting old now.
    -Thanks for video, i am now trying to OC this thing.

  16. DNTOUR says:

    @TheSaltyAdmiral I don’t have this laptop, but there might be a BIOS update for it that allows overclocking.

  17. gdelaporte says:

    Yah, sure. The only thing, Patrick…, is that the XPS 1710 and 1730 bought between 2005 and 2008 have ALL the same structural problem with their NVIDIA GeForce video card dying after 12 to 18 months of use.
    Which make this, top of the line laptop a..infect piece of sh*t

  18. Sh1nyRainb0w100 says:

    @user12119 lol, same

  19. majtymit says:

    nvm i got it. the ‘G’ behind the processor number is the crucial thingy here.
    T7600 versus T7600G
    :<

  20. majtymit says:

    i got the latest BIOS A07 and intel core 2CPU 7600 at 2.33GHz and there is no such option like overcloking in my bios.
    i also got an OT question:
    what is your windows experience index?
    ty

  21. Drcrazypants23 says:

    update your BIOS

  22. Rohloffp says:

    What the demo fails to mention is:

    Dell website:
    1. The system has to have been purchased with an Intel® 7600G processor. No other processors currently grant the over clock settings.
    2. The system must be at basic input/output system (BIOS) revision A03 or higher.

    The option will then appear automatically in the BIOS.’

    I only have the T7600 in my M1710 :-( Apparently the ‘G’ makes all the difference between being able/ allowed to overclock or not.

    overclock? what a fail lol
