The existing CPU is an AMD Athlon II X4 630, and well be swapping in the new 6-core AMD Phenom II X6 1055T. Since both CPUs fit the AM3 Socket, and our motherboard is based on the new 890GX chipset, no BIOS update is required.     Paul need’s to ditch the stock HSF and get a decent cooler and over clock it to 4 GHZ.

    Why did you clean the old chip on the mobo rather than off the mobo where there was less chance of stressing the mobo or maybe even contamination on the mobo’s cpu socket?

    Thanks for the vid…its encouraged me to get a new setup based on the GA-880GMA-UD2H that would run a lower spec AM3 cpu while I wait for the daddy 1090T to come down in price. There wouldn’t be any problem doing that..ie all set up for the 1090T but using say Sempron 140 initially?

    Warm up your computer for about 5 minutes. Ha! I run Prime95 untill temps hit around 50*C. HSF slides right off.

    If you want a PC that has an awesome performance but needs a nuclear plant to run, get an Intel chip. But if you want a cheap CPU chip that works and without hurting your bills like mad, get AMD. As for heatsink design, why change it when it works flawlessly? AMD have good stock coolers since the athlons compared to Intel so why change it?

    i love amd’s i would love to upgrade but you dont sell to australia i have the same antec case and system and would love to purchase from new egg maybe one day the nuffies at new egg will pull there finger out and learn how to send things in the mail and i can upgrade and buy things you advertise insted of jerking off at the screen
