The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
Benchmarking with Mafia II using my system. Did three separate tests with APEX PhysX off, on medium, and high settings. As for the actual demo, go out and get it, its alot of fun to play, and looks good too across a wide range of systems. While my system here would be best left with APEX PhysX completely off, youre only losing out on effects physics, nothing that really changes the gameplay dynamics. Looks really cool though. Im also not too sure if Nvidia graphics cards handle APEX natively or hand it off to the CPU just the same as with an ATi card. This card is ok folks cuz this mission is the only one i had lag experience cuz its inside a building. My gt 230 1.5gb graphics card is like this aswell. I set the resolution to 1600 x 900 aswell and all settings on high but aa was off. This is the only mission i think that would give you lag

@fah369 Apex PhysX is not ATi card compatible, in which case it will divert to using the CPU when enabled, however PhysX in general was purposely written to run it’s best on Nvidia graphics hardware. Yes, it can run on an x86 CPU, but it’s extremely slow in comparison to GPU acceleration.

Hey nice video dude.I just wanna ask you that ATI cards are compatible with Apex Physix or not?
I have an Intel E5300 @2.60 GHz and overclocked to @3.0 GHz
Asus P5KPL-AM-SE
XFX ATI HD 4650 1GB DDR2 overclocked
2 GB DDR2 (800 Mhz) RAM
When i turn on the APEX to high my game goes way too slow and if i turn to medium its also not that good in certain areas, but runs fines when i turn it off.

@gfruy Not sure if the Geforce Boost is compatible with more "high end" options (well, was a high end option back in the day). Either way, it probably won’t garner much of a boost considering the 9800GT is a good 15 to 20x more powerful.

@mobius1aic Woah… That is seriously insane… But you gotta admit, the cloth physics is beautiful. Seein that feature gave me some rreplay value.. Nevertheless, i’ve decided to go for the same processor and a biostar gf8100 motherboard… I have a 512mb 9800GT and since that motherboard has the geforce boost option, i can link my card with the onboard 8100(512mb) overclock it and get some good performance…

@gfruy APEX can be tweaked to run better on the CPU, but it’s really tailored to be run on an Nvidia graphics card. Mafia II’s system recommendations for full APEX is an i7 quad, 4 GB+ RAM, a GTX 480 plus a GTX 2xx card for PhysX alone. It’s pretty insane.

Hello There… I’m considering buyingthe same cpu you got… It seems worth the money.. Everything looks good although are you sure if you set the physx configuration to cpu it lags??? Because i have a dual core e2180 right now(stock=2.0ghz, overclocked to 2.47ghz)..and when i switch on physx it bogs down to 10fps, so i’m thinkin you got a quad core right?? it shouldn’t be a problem running this with physx on…

@ADRIAN01225 Technically you can still run APEX on the CPU, but it’s slow, even on upper tier Core i7s. It’s really best for a dedicated Nvidia GPU to run it (that is one for graphics, and one purely for PhysX I mean). It is possible to tweak it very heavily via the actual configuration files to turn certain things "off" while retaining some of the effects. As nice as the special APEX affects are, they are not game changing, purely effects physics, so I can live without them perfectly fine.

wtf are u noobs on about nvidia cards make this game look better do u even know what physx is u moron physx is the debris and damage on stuff that collapses and crumble onto the ground and then stays there u morons nothing too do with the quality of the graphics u idiots and nice vid dude btw the kid that sayed youre pc sucks probably has a p4

@Gundam00Raiser75
the 5970 still does not support physX or any other graphic features that this game has, so , the graphics would still not be improved, only better fps.
