The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
www.netbooknews.com MSI had a press event in Taipei where it showed off an early preview of some of its CES wares to the local media. Among the devices on display by far the most interesting was the 11.6 inch MSI U270 which was running on an AMD development platform. A Rep from MSI let us know that it was in fact running on the 1.6- GHz Zacate Processor from AMD. The unit has a very thin bezel around its 1366 x 768 resolution display. As for other specs we know they are planning a 320-500GB HDD and up to 4GB of RAM. The U270 also offers i USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, VGA out, HDMI, SD card reader and the standard audio jack, ethernet & kensington lock. The finish of the unit is very glossy and a finger print magnet just like its screen. They chiclet keyboard was very well built and offered little flex when typing. We dont know much else about this subnotebook from MSI, no release dates or prices. Perhaps we will find out a bit more during CES in a few days.

@anantmishra I agree with you 100%. I bought a Phenom II X3 laptop because it has a good balance between CPU performance and GPU performance (ATI 4225 IGP and 5470 switchable). A similar priced Intel Core laptop wasn’t an option because of the poor Intel HD GPU.
I just meant that Ontario/Zacate are built for netbooks/ultra-portable and the CPU performance is limited accordingly, Llano APUs are targeting Core i5/i7 notebooks later this year. I’m looking to buy an Ontario netbook BTW
@homerj7g 2006
@Aaronage1 It fair and square beats a core i5 based notebook in a netbook platform.
When I buy a PC(Desktop,Laptop,Netbook, any..) I buy a complete PC platform.
Its not like i just buy a fast cpu and tell the guy in shop to keep the GPU and DISPLAY right?!
@YOUCANNOTDENY Definitely, the GPU is better than anything Intel has to offer, but the CPU side of these Bobcat APUs is between Atom and Core i3 ULV performance. AMD want to own the netbook/ultra-portable space with these APUs
@Aaronage1 Yes, but the graphics performance rivals the integrated graphics on the i7.
@graffitiphat Expensive?
Man , I can’t wait to get one !!
@famouswolfy A 2.2GHz Athlon 64 is much faster than a 3GHz Pentium 4, a 2.2GHz Athlon 64 X2 is faster than a 3GHz Pentium D etc.
Pentium 4 bombed plain and simple.
@famouswolfy Early reviews of Zacate have already shown it beats Atom dual-cores…
@YOUCANNOTDENY It competes with Atom, not i5.
@Lolimaster I got 2005 System With Intel Pentium HT at 3.0Ghz it LGA775 Socket
and it don’t run Hot .and did Laps Around AMD Alton 2x 1.90 ghz chip
My Intel Core 2 duo 2.0ghz was faster then AMD Phenom Trippe Core
@famouswolfy
You sure are an ignorant when it comes to history.
Athlon > Pentium III
Athlon XP > Pentium 4
Athlon 64 / 2 >> Pentium 4 Prescott (hot hot hot) / Pentium D
Phenom II X4 / X6 compete pretty well with i5/i7 and offer more perfomance at the same price. In the PIII/P4 intel couldn’t provide that, just sell to ignorants like you slower cpu’s for the same or higher price.
USB 3.0 niiiiice!
Hopefully we will see the new AMD chipset that can outperform an i5 in every aspect.
@homerj7g i think AMD in 2006 Started loseing money and they had Re Do there company people said AMD are makeing there chips Cheeprs now days
Since a friend told me about this processor. I’ve been waiting for a machine having one. thanks for the update, I’ll be waiting for your review of this or similar machines
keep the good work
@minipcpro Dont worry, they let anyone through the front door
@famouswolfy
Amd had better chips from like 2000 to 2005.
@ig33ku i will before CES
@famouswolfy
AMD athlon 64 bits CPU’s roundhouse kicked intel pentium 4′s back in the time
but atm intel indeed has the fastest, but sometimes AMD can be faster
@famouswolfy graphics > cpu
@homerj7g Intel Has allways Been Faster
@famouswolfy
Why?
I bet the New Dual Core Intel Atom will Smoke that AMD Chip
