Guide to overclocking I7 920 @ 4ghz – Asus P6X58D-E

Check out this site where it’ll show you a cool trick that actually TRIPLES your PC’s performance!
The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!

Part 2: Rotation Films presents a guide to help overclock your I7 920 CPU @ 4ghz. This is on the motherboard we recommended in our last video, the Asus P6X58D-E. DEL key gets you into the BIOS on bootup (for those that didnt know;) Although this is a very stable and tested overclock, we are not held responsible for any damage or mishaps to you CPU, you know the risks involved. This is not suitable for the stock cooler. Please use a good aircooler or the excellent Corsair h50 hybrid cooler which we use for your CPU. All credits for the configuration goes to a guy named XMISERY at overclock.net you can see the thread here for more info: www.overclock.net Ai Overclock Tuner…………………[Manual] CPU Ratio Setting………………….[21.0] Intel(r) SpeedStep(tm) Tech…………[Disabled] Xtreme Phase Full Power Mode………..[Enabled] BCLK Frequency…………………….[191] PCIE Frequency…………………….[100] DRAM Frequency…………………….[DDR3-1531MHz] UCLK Frequency…………………….[3063MHz] QPI Link Data Rate…………………[Auto] CPU Voltage Control………………..[Manual] CPU Voltage……………………….[1.22500] CPU PLL Voltage……………………[1.80] QPIDRAM Core Voltage………………[1.21875] IOH Voltage……………………….[1.12] IOH PCIE Voltage…………………..[1.50] ICH Voltage……………………….[1.20] ICH PCIE Voltage…………………..[1.50] DRAM Bus Voltage <b>…<b>

    Thanks for the great tutorial. I successfully overclocked my i7 930 using your link and my Noctua NH-D14. I have one question. What is the diminishing lifespan rate of 4.0ghz on my i7 930? Any help is appreciated. thanks!

    @RotationFSX

    Can you please give a direct link for the i7 930 specs, because that topic is 105 pages and the search doesn’t work :(

    I also get a crash during the second test @Prima95

    Thanks!

    so if I have the 950 I should put base clock to 168 since its times 24 right?

  4. dalesalsa says:

    @RotationFSX Hey Rotation.. I still have the standard 1333Mhz ram and I was able to run your settings! But with one modification: I chose DRAM Frequency to: DDR3-1149Mhz and the system ran… :-)

    But I have one question: Do I have to change anything else now since I am running the RAM at lower frequencies? Like Do I have to lower the Voltage somewhere? Will this change damage the computer?! Thanks a million!!

    Hi! I’ve a 920, h50, 12Gb dominator 1600, same mobo. I set these and that’s cool while working (3dsmax) or running a game, but when I tried prime95 it just crashed right on start. Temps are nice, like 38,34,37,35. Can u tell me what’s wrong? Nice work though… cheers!!

  6. inefficient says:

    @RotationFSX Ah, cheers mate. Should have been a bit more observant.

    Good work on the 4.2 aswell :D

  7. RotationFSX says:

    @inefficient – If you got the forum link, it gives the settings for the 930

  8. inefficient says:

    I tried these settings on an i7 930 and got a BSOD during the second test done by Prime95.

    Have you tried Prime95 on this setup? I have pretty much exactly the same setup as you components-wise.

  9. dalesalsa says:

    @RotationFSX Yes.. I definitely think that is my prob. Thanks brother. I will invest in good RAM as soon as I can. :-) Looks like all the OCZ and G.Skill 6gbs sets are sold out on New Egg but there is a Kingston 6gb 2000mhz ram still available. Would it be possible to run the system all the way to 2000mhz on the RAM with the correct memory modules? :-) Thank you very much!

  10. RotationFSX says:

    @dalesalsa – I have 1600mhz ram in mine, that could be your problem??

  11. Netrex44 says:

    If i use this with I7-950 i bet nothing can go wrong? It could maybe be optimized a bit more since it’s a newer model?

    I have 620+ watt and my case is Antec p193 with many fans. Is these settings in this vid valid for me?

  12. WorldPeace3824 says:

    I have the an i720 cpu on Asus P6X58D-E with 12Gb or RAM. However, when I use this settings, I only get 6Gb of RAM detected as supposed to 12Gb on my system. Is it possible to get to 4Ghz with 12Gb of RAM?

  13. RotationFSX says:

    @Joncingular – I’m now at 4.2ghz
    using realtemp I got 42 40 43 40 – idle
    this is without 100% cpu stress test

  14. Joncingular says:

    Hey bud what’s the temperatre reading on your cpu @ 4.0ghz?

  15. diegodiniz says:

    Can I use these settings with a i7 950 ??? Same voltages on PLL, IOH, ICH ???

  16. RotationFSX says:

    @MmhGanja – Its in my building a PC video..Patriot 6GB 1600mhz

  17. RotationFSX says:

    @Benjaminbom – The forum link in the video will show you 930 settings bud

  18. MmhGanja says:

    what ram u got?

  19. Benjaminbom says:

    @zenonithus
    The Asus P6X58D-E motherboard supports the i7 950. It also supports the latest ultra high end six-cores from Intel.

    If you have any more questions concerning hardware compatibility: then feel free to ask and I’ll help you as much as I possible can.

    Best regards
