For this, should I get a better heatsink than the stock? Or should I be fine?
@Diedrich92 maybe is not black edition. u should try turning off the noise filters and cool and quiet features before try to o.c. If the C&Q is on ur system going to freeze and I recommend you use Gamers Ram on ur pc.
no torture testing??? your cpu temp are going to go way up if you stress the cpu.
@Intz51 After comparing the speeds of my old pc and the new one to be built , i think i won’t have to overclock afterall.

@steven198807 i suggest you to follow the video, if you are new maybe not to go to bios yet. try with amd overdrive and turbov like he did. Just make sure your tempretures stay on safe side on load, not on idle.
@Diedrich92 You need a Phenom II, to my knowledge.
i cant run amd overdrive, just crashes my computer as soon as i try to run the program. amd athlon 54 x2 5600+ btw.
I got one off these AMD PHENOM II X4 955 in the mail, aldo im new to overclocking.
Will i be able to overclock it to 3.45 with easy ?, its pretty scary for me i dont want to break it
I do have a question. I ran the torture test with Prime95 with AMD Phenom II x2 @ 3888 and my core went from 45c to 68/69c within a few minutes… YIKES… turned of the workers quickly. I use a Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
in a Lian Li PC-Q08B (cramped) but has two built in fans (one that is tied to the motherboard)… the CPU fan is maxed out at 7124RPM. I also have a GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) Superclocked 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 video inside… any ideas?

jstark069… thank you so much! forget the bios, you made OC easy… just O.C. my AMD Phenom II x2 555 BE to 38888 @ 41c, system 34c … this took minutes instead of hours playing with BIOS settings!

955 is as far as i know always Black edition.

Is it safe to overclock to 3,6GHz with stock cooling and a Corsair HX650W?

I dont wanna read all of comments im sorry if you have to repeat yourself, but : where is the 4.2 GHz ? 3.8 vs. 4.2 …its a HUUUGE difference. What are your settings, and cooling system for 4.2 if you need 1.55V at 3.8G already? I need only 1.475 for that but ive seen 955 running on 3.8 with 1.45V. Please show the motherboard BIOS settings or cpu-z panels for 4.2GHz, thank you. Sorry but it sounds unbelievable to get 4.2GHz with a low-middle end 5400cm2 surface cooler with this processor.
