The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
Well I finally had some time in between cat trees and other projects to spend on my dual boreas setup. I honestly wasnt able to push my chip much further, but I probably could have gone deeper into the various bios settings to get more out of it… The problem is that I need to make room on my bench for something else thats new and exciting.

you should try this with a 980X
Damn Linus, ur electric bills must be through the roof!
Dose anyone have the 1090t that decided to just use the stock heat sink instead of a after market cpu cooler? I’m planing using the 1090t in my new build and i wanna know if it holds up cause i’m only using it for gaming and video editing i’m not planing on overclocking the crap out of it.
OVER 9000! watts from the wall……i mean 900
2:05 Overclocked quad core?
why didn’t you boost the voltage? you could get it even higher if you had increased the voltage to 1.45V
Hmmm, something is fishy. There are videos of the 1090T running 4.2Ghz on air, check them out……
OVER 900!!!!!
I managed to get my 1090T at 4ghz without voltage changes, but then when i wanted to go up by another 200mhz i had to up to about 1.45v (but i have LLC on so it went to about 1.5 according to CPU-Z)
This all is watercooled (700lph pump, 360mm worth of radiators) to about 36C (while it’s 34C in here). i THINK i can go upto 4.5 with a bit more voltage and tweaking, but in general, i don’t see why anyone would run this thing overclocked 24/7, i’d never use the full potential of it
Nice vid! ^^
@groMMit1981 or global cooling, eh?
see what i did there?
haha im so witty
CoreTemp CPU Core temps are actually very badly offset. If you think about it, people with stock cooling are running cooler than ambient (which is impossible unless they’ve come up with a Top Secret way of cooling the chip, but I think faulty sensors are a more likely cause. Keep that in mind when cooling. You’re CPU Socket temp is probably the best think to go by, which for this video would be around 36°C.
@KeyAttendant yea 4x the price it damn well should be better…
@racingisfun It’s expensive, but that’s what you expect for higher quality parts.
@KeyAttendant id still rather have a phenom 2 for $300 rather than a $1200 x6 intel… and of course it damn well should be better at x4 the price…
@racingisfun They are not literal knock-offs, but they can be seen as lower-end versions of the same product that Intel produces. Yes, AMD has its own tri-core series, but that’s not my point.
My point is, you take a hexacore processor by Intel and AMD with the same clock speed, then Intel processor is going to win.
@KeyAttendant i dont see how they are knockoffs as they are different companies… btw amds video cards bend over intels video cards and id rather have a $300 x6 amd and overclock it than have a $1200 x6 intel that will cost more for the mb as well… im planning to build a OC 1055t with xfire setup soon and im not even a bit interested in going the intel way…
@KeyAttendant
LOLLOLOLOL!
920 is a good CPU but no way near as a Phenom x6.
its only a bit better than a 965.
My 1090T would Roast most i7′s!
5.0Ghz Baby!
@groMMit1981 lmao
@RottenRroses
1366 will last about another 2 month then you will need to buy another system…
AMD <3
Phenom x6 was the right choose
also why did you get the FX board? unless your going to be doing crossfire gaming
@ibrahimalghamdi94
you do realise you can go over 61C….
i was using stock cooling…
