wait so that means i can upgrade any laptops cpu???

    @robertdevald
no. if your motherboard uses an AMD CPU then its not compatible with an intel CPU and vice-versa.
if you’re thinking about changing your processor, first you need to find out what chipset your motherboard has (download a software like CPU-Z and it will tell you). then find out your chipset’s maximum FSB. and also find out what kind of socket your motherboard takes (basically it’s the same one as the CPU you already have).

I have a compaq presario cq 61 and it has an AMD Sempron M120 processor.
I know it might be the crappest CPU on the market, so I would like to change it.
This looks pretty easy, but every laptop looks different from inside, not? What if I screw up my laptop? And can anyone tell me if you can put an Intel Core i3 in an AMD computer? Thnx

is there any process to be done for my laptop to recognise the new CPU, or will it just do it automatically? (by which i mean on the blue screen {F12 i think})

    and screw it FTW!

@superharrison95 i7 is socket 1366 while celeron is 775. U cant just swap out components that easily. that’s why you should pay the extra money for something when u buy it. So u don’t have to worry about upgrading

i have a toshiba satilite pro a100 and can i upgrade if i find one with the right sockets and stuff not a much higher one like a i7 from a celeron

I have two dell d600, and I changed the processor of the one in better external conditions from 1.4ghz to 1.6ghz. After that the laptop will not turn on even when i put the 1.4 processor back. …did i miss something (I hope not the laptop)? thanks

  14. TaylorBlostfire says:

@jonpojo Google your motherboard’s name.[Would most likely say it on your motherboard]
It would tell you which processors are compatible to your mobo[mother board].
Thermal paste is to spread the heat and allow it for easy transfer to the heatsink.

  15. Burkhardj says:

    Not really professinell.
Forget anti static belt and heat sink paste. Seen in all his videos. Not a good service.
And most new notebooks don’t have a CMOS battery, its a capacitor now.

i have a Intel celeron 900@ 2.20GHz 2.19GHz……do you know what would be better than that lol..because this one isn’t that great

  17. jonpojo says:

wats the thermal paste for? i have a acer aspire 5517 and i was wondering if i can upgrade to a AMD Phenom® II

  18. b0bthekillar says:

do you think that applying the thermal paste when the cpu is not installed and lying topside on a hard surface could cause damage to it?

  19. dudutz999 says:

    take the battery ooooooooouuuuuuutttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. cclloyd9785 says:

Will this void the warrenty? And do I have to somehow install a driver for it before I replace it (Windows 7 x64) And finally does it have to be a mobile proccessor?

  21. alphaman1101 says:

@alexamasan Yeah, Newegg for the win. By the way this guy did a step wrong. Forgot to take off the old thermal paste.

  22. parakidd says:
