Sucker! Better off buying a Intel x58 at that price. Socket AM3+ (AM3r2) 990 CPU motherboard is in the works. The New Bulldozer
Zambezi 8 core WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS. Glad I still could use my 790fx with the Phenom II 1055t six core. Complete waiste of expense here. I’ll just wait till the see what the future brings with the 990FX line up. Sucker
cant wait to see amd’s bulldozer platform first quarter 2011.
@SuccessXS Well the short time I had to run some test and benchmarks it seem fine. However a full evaluation would take much longer of testing, and unfortunately I didn’t have that luxury.
so how was your experience with the 1090t, is it everything its supposed to be? thanks lazy. appreciate your comments.
ben
@SuccessXS load pages quicker?…what do you mean? But regardless I don’t know as I never did use the i7 870.
@rbmags21 pretty close, like your case.
i would have used the H50 corsair CPU cooler
honestly, we almost have the exact same build.. these are the only things different;
Cooler Master HAF 932
MSI Radeon 6870
hi lazyman, what is your opinion on performance between a amd 1090t and a I7-870 intel processor, which do you think will perform better or load pages quicker? thanks much. benn
@SuccessXS Unfortunately there is no exact receipt, it is a trail and errror kinda thing and I really don’t have the time. I would just Google "overclocking the 1035t" and you should get some real valuable info. To get a decent stable OC it could take a couple of days of adjusting this or that to achieve the desire speed and still have it stable. However I normally just do everything in the Bios, so I don’t know how sufficient AMD Overdrive is.
It’s really not that hard, just takes time….
@WestCoastMods yes, it does, ive downloaded the amd overdrive, but do not know what settings i should use, and what GHZ i can expect, would you be able to help lazy?: thanks much.
@Russ88765 It does, but I never use the stock thermal paste for a final installation, maybe for test purposes, but other than that the paste that came with cooler is not very good as with most stock thermal paste.

doesn’t the 1090t come with thermal compound preapplied?

@SuccessXS Doesn’t you current PC have the 1035t processor? I don’t think you will see a performance boost by upgrading. Why not just OC your present setup?

hi lazy, i dont need a preformance board that has all the bells and whistles, im just looking for a board that can fit in my stock dell studio chasis, and take the amd 1090t processor i have, do you by chance have any stock dell oem boards laying around that will accept the 1090 t processor? thanks again

@WestCoastMods , thanks for responding so quickly. i have a stock dell studio xps s7100, im not sure if the mobo can support the 125v of the amd 1090t, i have spoken to tech support and their idea of the mobo specs were the specs of the N and S bridge, would you happen to know if i can simply drop in the 1090t into my dell xps and it would work without frying it? thanks lazy much appreciated for saving me some time and fustration.

@SuccessXS There are several out there…..just Google "best mobo for AMD1090t processor" and you should find several. IMO I would go with the Asus featured in this video…it’s a very strong board, especially if you are going to OC it…also I found that this board had no problem when I unlocked the 5th and 6th core.
Good luck

hi what are the boards you would use for replacing a stock amd 1035t mobo, with a 1090t board in a stock dell studio xps s7100 chasis? thanks much.

@ravinbreaker IMO I would not even use the stock heartsink, but if you’re going to then I’m sure the stock fan will be adequate. Don’t recall the spec’s off hand, but if you can pick up a better fan cheap then it wouldn’t hurt to change it.

do you recommend using the HS fan that came with the processor 1090T?

@FourtySven No I don’t off hand, but a quick Google search should do the trick.
