i have checked a duzen of 6850 vs gtx 460, it seems they are on the same level but 6850 races it by an inch

, personally i dont understand how the ati 6XXX benchmarks lower than the ati 5XXX, personally i wish i could get a geforce gt 440, single card slot but about 2x as powerful as the PS3′s GPU
If you’re not doing crossfire, get a 6870, but if you want two, get 2 6850s.

I kinda fail to see why putting up with GTX 460 when its obvious that 6850 got better performance in most benchmarks… probably the nvidia fan club issue.
@0nc if you want to choose between them id say the hd 6850. it has lower power consumption and lower temps. or else go for the hd 6870. but not the gtx 460. its too power consuming.

That 2-3% difference WAS in fps. It equates to the loss of ~1-1.5 fps on average. Point is, you don’t need to spend an extra $80-100 on a 16/16 mobo just for 1 more fps. A 16/8 will give EXACTLY the same performance, 8/8 also being almost unnoticeable.

Just watch some videos with benchmarks of Call Of Duty Black Ops and Crysis and you’ll see that they are about the same! But at lighter games like Left 4 Dead, the GTX 580 is better.
So my opinion is that the GTX 580 don’t worth over $350!

@GamerAndReviewer Errrrr you don’t need a 16x/16x mobo to run SLI/Crossfire. Testing has proven that running at 8x/8x results in a mere ~2-3% performance loss compared to running at 16x/16x.

But yeah, when it comes to performance don’t put any faith in what "people tell you", a lot of people are biased because they haven’t experienced the full range of products, hence they’re in no place to make comparisions.
The best (and by far the most satisfying) way is to quickly google reviews and look at some bar graphs of straight-up comparisions. Written reviews with performance graphs are far easier to understand than video reviews

@0nc I don’t get it…there are many reviews already done, use your brain and google it. HD6850 is performing slightly better than GTX460 while costing roughly the same across 80-90% of games/benchmarks.
