@hildegain I will fix this up a little.
We need game engines that utlize either directx or opengl, we used to have some of these.
A game engine using OpenGL 4.1′s features would be pretty nice to see.
@falconidaes I have seen demos of what OpenGL can do and I agree that it would be nice if all platforms would be able to receive the same games.
I have never seen performance advantages using either programs really but I will agree that DirectX being Exclusive to one operating system and being the main standard for game designs is unfair.
OpenGL4.1 does seem to have some nice features involved in it I must admit and a game engine that utilizes it would be nice to see.

If you want the statistics make your own research. I might be lying like Microsoft when comapred DX to OpenGL. I am playing games for years. I REALLY do not like the direction of MS is to buy new OS for new DX. In long term it could be dying market PC games and new market for console games. There are some reasons for game makers stay with MS. But the future of PC games is to make games for all OSs with common technology.

i bet you have a crappy q6600 and think intel rocks cause its better than your old amd single core xD xD the amd 1090t(six core 3.2ghz) costs 200 euro…. the i7-970 (also six core 3.2 ghz) costs 880 euro .. the intel is about 30% better than the amd but costs 440% more xD xD xD
@hildegain the 6870 is best price by power but the 470 is more quality .. everyone i know who owns a ati (they damn have a lot of power yes !) but there always are difficulties with the drivers and software .. pixelfails (im german so i dont know the correct words for what i want to say , sry ;D) so i will go for the 470 but with another fan design than the original one ;D

yeah youre right .. but when i posted it there was no 6870 .. but the 6870 isnt as good as the 480 or 580 (480 slightly better than the 580 but the 580 uses less power and is quieter as far as i know , if not please correct me).. you could compare the 6870 to the 470 .. the 470 costs around 210 euros and is slightly better than the 6870 which costrs around 190 euro ..

"you’re not a real fan" who cares?? You’re supposed to buy what’s good and has a decent price, not what you feel makes you loyal.
Also the 480 and 470 aren’t any better than what AMD have got so that point is void, of course I think that NVIDIA have the lead with the 580 over AMDs 6870.
But still, you trailed away into no brain territory in the end.
nvidia is luckily coming back the only reason y they failed is because ati 5800 series pwned so they had to release early their gtx580 is good if ati was’nt there nvidia would go alot better

@falconidaes There’s a reason that microsoft is ahead. Money. Sorry but open source programs will never be able to keep up with the progress of microsoft. Without the money there just isn’t enough drive to make all of these innovations. The market goes where the money is. If maybe linux had been around earlier it maybe different.

dx11 is great but it lowers the fps to half i`ll wait 2 years and buy a video card whit better performace and less power consumption less money and by then there will be games i can play for now dx10.1 is perfect
