    @Djhg2000 is running comiz decently heavier usage than light gaming? You’re a misinformed user in linux, intel drivers are screwed all over in liunx(and windows).

    Anyways dont wanna rmr graphics in linux its painful with anything! :(

  2. Djhg2000 says:

    @schmidtbag
    Err… Have you ever used all three drivers in Linux?
    I can tell you this: nVidia drivers for Linux are NOT on par with their Windows counterparts! ATI has gotten pretty close but still not there.

    Intel drivers are OPEN SOURCE, they work right away from the first boot. Installing ATI/nVidia drivers in any Linux distrobution (except maybe Ubuntu) can be a real pain.

    I never said Intel is for gaming machines, they just happen to work for light gaming.

    @Djhg2000
    uh… razberrybandit is right. you don’t buy intel for gaming. even hardcore intel users who think amd completely sucks will tell you not to do that. also, intel certainly does NOT at ALL have the best linux support. they’re slightly more attentive than amd/ati, and the only reason for that is because amd lost their lead graphics developer a few months ago. nvidia is by far the best for graphics, they even added cuda and opencl support and their linux drivers are par with windows

    It isn’t about playing HD, almost anything can play HD now.
    It is about the DX instructions that the GPU can use and understand which Intel’s GPU can’t. (the DX11 part)

    Another thing is that AMD can do that with a smaller chip while keeping the power low. Imagine your full laptop experience able to fit in a "netbook".

    From what i see AMD is going to take over cheap all-in-one consumer PCs soon, Gaming + cheap used to be quite impossible, until now.

  7. Djhg2000 says:

    @Bobzilla183 Just because the name 720p didn’t exist 6 years ago doesn’t mean the resolution didn’t, and it handles that resolution in Open Arena just fine.

  8. Bobzilla183 says:

    @Djhg2000 cool, now show me 720p in any game from the last 6 years. Trick question.

  9. Raschpreis says:

    AMD!

  10. RazberyBandit says:

    @Djhg2000 And the Source engine is technically how many years old now? Can an Intel GMA 4500 handle newer engines, like Frostbite, CryENGINE, or even Unreal 3 Engine? I’m not saying they’re total garbage. What I am saying is that there have always been more powerful alternatives.
    The problem is you can’t often get those alternatives in any old Intel machine, especially laptops in the = / < $500 range. They all use onboard GPUs, and Intel only pairs their CPUs with their GPUs.

  11. Djhg2000 says:

    @RazberyBandit
    "when’s the last time you saw a major title that listed an Intel GPU in the required specs"

    Very good point, but the latest generation of Intel graphics can actually handle most source engine based games just fine.

  12. RazberyBandit says:

    @Djhg2000 No. My point was that AMD/ATI (nVIDIA too) has had integrated GPUs that do more and/or do the same things better than even the best offerings from Intel. Why? Because graphics and GPU development is a primary focal point of AMD and nVIDIA, whereas Intel’s primary focal point revolves around the CPU.

    Intel integrated video can handle many simple games, but when’s the last time you saw a major title that listed an Intel GPU in the required specs, other than unsupported?

  13. Djhg2000 says:

    @RazberyBandit

    I’d buy a laptop with Intel HD graphics for simple gaming. Are you calling me less informed?

    Intel actually has best Linux support of all when it comes to graphics, my old i915 equipped laptop can even do 720p without framedrop.

  14. RazberyBandit says:

    @jprincehouston Faster than a 5770? Where the hell did you see that? If the 5770 were a Porsche, then Intel hasn’t built a graphics chip faster than a Model T in it’s lifetime. Sandy Bridge isn’t DX11, it’s DX10, meaning it can’t even tessellate.

    Intel does not "do" moderate to high-end graphics, they do entry-level mainstream. Even in that market they do poorly. AMD (ATI) has always been a performance leader there.

    Oh if only the less-informed buyers actually knew anything other than Intel…

    Have a heart guys, just learned how to use Adobe Premiere with our P2 for this vid and it’s a bit of a ramp for a couple of hours of editing. And as for THE VOICE, yeah, I have my video voice, get over it. I tried to hire schmoyoho for autotune but…

  19. Schmich87 says:

    I love how they added the last part of audio instead of redoing the last sentence. The latter would have been just as easy considering the video part of it is just showing hands.

    Really excited AMD. That has to go a long way to lowering cost and increasing Gross Margin %

    As investor and company fan, I have a lot of faith in you guys. Keep it up ! :-D

    (just want you to so lay the Smackdown on those Intel f*ckers :-P )
