    I thought that the Am486 was licensed by Intel. K5 – the first AMD ground up design was plagued my manufacturing flaws. K6 was after the purchase of NexGen. K6 Family was largely successful, and no wonder – they were the marvels of the era – Cyrix lagging behind, and Intel being overpriced. First slot athlons were not very succesful, although they beat Intel in price/performance ratio (as it is still today). Wow! the Athlon Xp with the cache chips is indeed an oddity. I have never seen one.

    Ehh.. no Athlon was first use with the slot A CPU, I myself had the AMD Athlon 500mhz Slot A CPU. But here he claims its the Athlon XP that first used the athlon name..

    I have an athlon xp runing windows 7 with 384mb of DDR, a 256mb nvidia agp graphics card, 80GB HD, floppy, and it runs pretty good. Will post a vid soon.
