I just received this processor today from newegg.com. This black edition processor does come with a heatsinkfan which is a good feature for those who are doing minimal overclocking and not an enthusiasts gamer. The major plus to this dual core in the AMD line is the added L3 Cache which puts it on the same level as the phenom quad cores that are on the market today. Overall, in my opinion this product is for someone who is not an enthusiast gamer, moderate at best, but wants the ability to multitask and perform daily activities without the lag that you may receive on a lesser product.

Good comments… I’m thinking about getting the 7850 for an older motherboard I have so I don’t have to buy a new motherboard and a new windows license. One thing you only briefly mentioned was that the intel cpus overlock further. While this one is unlocked the reviews i’ve seen for the 7750/7850 weren’t able to overlock beyond 3.3ghz without problems. I’ve known of people overlocking intel cpus quite a bit more.

Did you try unlocking yours to 4 cores by enabling ACC in the bios? A friend of mine has the exact smae processor with the 780g chipset and he unlocked his 7750BE 2 extra cores. he is running 4 cores now around 2.7ghz.. the only downside is that he had to lower his overclocking from 3.2ghz with 2 cores to 2.7ghz with 4 cores to make it stable.

Hey I just bought a mobo from newegg last week during Black Friday. It’s a ECS model A780G mobo and it only supports AM2 and AM2+ I was wondering cause you seem like you know your stuff.What would be the absolute BEST processor for games like Bioshock,Oblivion,COD,Left 4 Dead,and If I’m lucky which I doubt will even happen crysis on medium??
Its an alright mid range gamming CPU and with a GTS 250 will run GTA4 at 25-30ish fps on max besides draw distance and shadows.
Hey man, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. If you’re looking to upgrade from a dual core you already had – go quad core – there are lots of cpus out there now for reasonable prices. Intel is better but AMD’s price/performance ratio is much better.
i got 3.5 but backed off a little bit due to minor stability issues – i keep mine around 3.3 on a asus m3a78-em
sure, there are a handful of games capable of using quad cores right now even still. i recommend this cpu for sure, haven’t seen it for sale in awhile though.
